ANNOUNCING A NEW PARTNERSHIP!

The FPA of South Florida has partnered with the Junior Achievement of South Florida to help in supporting financial literacy and business-building life skills tailored to school-age children - elementary grades through high school.

JA of SFL's greatest need for support and volunteers is currently in their middle school program, JA Finance Park - Sunrise Middle School.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

FINANCIAL CAPABILITY MATTERS

JA Finance Park® combines in-class learning with a visit to an immersive on-site facility. After learning about personal finance in the classroom, 8th grade students engage with volunteers and put into practice what they have learned by participating in real-life scenarios. They get hands-on experience identifying career interests, the advantages and disadvantages of using credit and debit cards, and the components of making healthy financial decisions.

Program Highlights:

· Identify personal interests, skills, work preferences, and values.

· Evaluate the risks and benefits of saving and investing.

· Evaluate risk and recognize insurance as a way to minimize it.

· Define taxes, explain their purpose, and understand how they affect everyone.

· Explain who uses a budget and why.

· Make smart financial decisions using hypothetical life situations.

VOLUNTEER SIDE-NOTES:

Volunteer training will be held on-site on the morning of your volunteer experience and is included in the stated timeframe. 

Comfortable shoes and business casual clothes are recommended. Please bring a bagged lunch. Microwaves are not available.
